Remember Loved Ones. Light a Candle.

Lighting of candles is a traditional way of honoring and remembering our deceased loved ones. A votive candle signifies literally that the lighting is done in fulfillment of a vow, from the Latin word, votum, although in most cases the intention is to give honor and to seek help from the saint before whose images the candle is lit and to pray for the dead.

Learn Why the Church Makes Use of Imagery

A Catholic church is not simply a place IN which we worship God… but WITH which we worship God. As such, it is often adorned with colorful vibrant imagery to “offer to the Lord a fitting place to worship Him” (cf. Isaiah 66:1).
