Eucharistic Processions

At the Newman Center, Eucharistic Processions have been a cornerstone of our community's faith life for decades. What you witness is not a performance or a demonstration. It is an act of adoration. We carry Christ, truly present in the Blessed Sacrament, through the world he came to redeem.

What is a Eucharistic Procession?

A Eucharistic Procession is a solemn, joyful walk in which the faithful accompany the Eucharist — the consecrated Body of Christ — through the streets or campus grounds. The Eucharist is carried in a golden vessel called a monstrance, often accompanied by prayer, song, and incense. It is one of the most ancient expressions of Catholic devotion, unbroken for nearly two thousand years.

"The Church and the world have a great need of Eucharistic worship. Jesus waits for us in this sacrament of love." — St. John Paul II · Dominicae Cenae, 1980

You do not need to be Catholic to witness a procession. You only need to be curious. Many students, faculty, and staff describe the moment of encountering the procession on campus as unexpectedly moving — a pause in the ordinary that invites something deeper.

Why come? Because the campus becomes something else for a few minutes. Because silence in the middle of a busy day is a gift. Because generations of students have walked this same path before you and found something worth returning to.

Eucharistic Processions are open to all members of the ASU community — students, faculty, and staff. No preparation or prior experience is required. Simply show up. Simply watch. You are welcome here.
