Sacred Music at All Saints Newman Center
Sacred music glorifies God and elevates the hearts and minds of the faithful in reverent prayer before our Lord. Our mission is to make sacred music accessible to students, helping them discover the beauty of the liturgy, encounter Christ there, and share their gifts in service of Him and His Church.
Choir of Saint John
The Choir of Saint John sings for the 4pm Sunday Mass with a particular devotion to beautifying the liturgy through traditional sacred music. Students have the opportunity to learn Gregorian chant, sing choral music, and grow in prayer. Practices are on Mondays, starting in the adoration chapel at 6pm.
Email andrew@vzsacredmusic.com if you are interested in joining.
Schola Stellae Maris
Schola Stellae Maris is an intermediate/advanced vocal ensemble within the Choir of Saint John that practices at 2pm after the Spanish mass on Sundays. Stella Maris is an ancient title honoring the Virgin Mary, meaning “star of the sea”. Just as sailors use the stars to navigate, Mary guides us towards Christ.
If you are interested in auditioning, please email andrew@vzsacredmusic.com. Schola members may have opportunities to sing for special events, weddings, and events across the diocese.
Contemporary Choir
The All Saints Contemporary Choir serves at the 10am and 6pm Sunday Masses with rehearsals 45 minutes prior to Mass. The choir's musical repertoire encompasses a comprehensive variety of styles of music for the Catholic liturgy, both contemporary and traditional. Sheet music and listening tracks are sent out during the week for members to review before rehearsal.
If you are a singer or instrumentalist (piano, guitar, strings, winds) interested in joining you can email music@asucatholic.org or visit the choir loft after Mass.
